We live in a world that tries to impose its values on us. But Jesus preaches a different set of values for his followers, those who would truly be part of God’s kingdom. Jesus’ values are counter-values, “upside down” values, something already apparent in the previous story, where he said that the kingdom of God belonged to children (10:13-16) — they are the blueprint for an answer to this man’s question: “what must I do to inherit eternal life?” Let’s listen in as Jesus tries to help this man, and us, with a “values” adjustment.
