Jesus’ discipleship training sessions with his Apostles were coming to an end. Oh, there will be more; after the resurrection, Jesus will appear several times to them. He’ll restore Peter, convince Thomas, and encourage his Apostles. He’ll spend time explaining all that’s happened and how it fulfills the Old Testament Scriptures. And he’ll tell them to wait for Holy Spirit to come before they get started. But much of that was done privately, out of ear shot for us. For what Jesus wanted to teach us about disciple making in the Bible, this is "class dismissed.” And he appropriately close class with prayer.
