Isaiah has a beautiful dream of Israel’s future in Isaiah 35, where he dreams of a time when: The desert and the parched land will be glad; the wilderness will rejoice and blossom.
Like the crocus, it will burst into bloom; it will rejoice greatly and shout for joy… they will see the glory of the Lord, the splendor of our God. This was not the present reality, however badly
Isaiah wanted it. Isaiah breaks out of prophecy mode and talks to God, and in his conversation
with God, we get a feel for what Advent was about; anxious longing and waiting
