Imagine your job included union membership, which not only entailed paying dues, but also mandatory attendance at union meetings.  Not only did you discuss and vote on issues, but you were called to worship the "god" of the union.  And meetings always ended with Satanic rituals and orgies in which you were expected to participate.  If you quit the union, you'd not only lose your job, but your standing in the community; you'd be ridiculed by your fellow citizens.  What would you do as a Christian? Such was the dilema of Christians in Thyatira.
