We continue to ask in this Advent season: how far was it to Bethlehem? In this story, we will visit the place where the Messiah is born, and we are joined by some strange characters.  Pagan astrologers chart our path, at least in the beginning, and we find ourselves in the palace of King Herod in Jerusalem. We are caught up short by their audacious, though innocent, question: "Where is the one who has been born king of the Jews?"  Don't they know that's Herod's title?
