Isaiah 64 - Isaiah has a beautiful dream of Israel’s future in Isaiah 35, where he dreams of a time of shalom for the people of God, presently in exile. The desert will bloom, God’s people will return from exile, gladness and joy will overtake them. This was not the present reality, however badly Isaiah wanted it. Have you ever wanted something that bad. Isaiah breaks out of prophecy mode and talks to God: If only … but … yet … In his conversation with God, we get a feel for what Advent was about: anxious longing and waiting.
